Le
Jardin de Cure is only two kilometres from the centre of Graulhet,
a small town (parts of which date back to the 10th century)
with two markets a week and plenty of good restaurants. We
are right in the centre of the area that the French refer
to as 'Le Pays de Cocagne', the Land of Plenty, surrounded
by beautiful countryside (and with it, the most fantastic
wildlife).
In
the nearby countryside, vineyards cover the hillsides. Much
of the wine from these grapes is produced by local co-operatives.
In return for processing the grapes, the co-op keeps a percentage
of the wine to sell, and this is available to the public at
good prices. We can recommend a good wine co-op nearby, should
you wish to purchase good local wines, where you are encouraged
to taste the wines before making your choice. Well worth a
visit.
As
well as local markets, Graulhet is well served by large supermarkets
- including Intermarche, Leclerc, Lidl and others. If you
prefer, you can also choose from a number of small food shops,
and good local boulangeries (bakeries).
You
will find that our holiday
homes are very well equipped for those that wish to self-cater.
The kitchens are fresh, modern and clean - a pleasure to use.
And if you want to learn more about French cooking, ask us
about our French cookery courses.
Of
course, if you'd rather leave the shopping and cooking to
us, you are welcome to join us for table d'hote in
the evenings - freshly cooked meals using local produce and
vegetables from our own garden, plus plenty of local wine. |
